Another month has come and gone! It’s time for my monthly income + traffic report. This is my third income report for my blog and I’ve only been making money from my blog for the past few months. I decided to put together these income reports to measure my progress over the months. I’ve been sharing these reports since August and my aim is to inspire other small bloggers that they too can make an income online from blogging. When I first started, I had no clue you could make money this way. I was completely unaware that full-time blogging was even a thing and that’s why I want to shed light on the subject.
I’m obsessed with reading blog income reports because so inspiring and I probably wouldn’t have really started my blog if I hadn’t read them. I learned that there’s this whole other world on the internet where you can earn money own your own terms. You can be financially independent and even location independent!
My goal is make a significant income from my blog someday that could maybe even replace the salary of my day job. In these reports that I put together, you’ll see my mistakes and downfalls. You’ll see where I can make improvements. And you’ll see if I don’t achieve my goals.
I’m still learning something new every single day. So I decided to include both income and blog traffic in these reports to help monitor my growth over time. It helps me see what works and what isn’t working so I know what to tweak for the next month.
Here are some of my previous income reports:
August 2017 Income and Traffic Report — $285
September 2017 Income and Traffic Report — $290
Now… With further ado, let’s dive into the numbers in this income report and discuss how I did in October:
Yay, so this has been my best month yet! In September, my traffic took a dip because I took a two week break from blogging. Now my traffic is slowly increasing again which is awesome. I hope to beat this in November!
My biggest referrer is still Pinterest. 48% of my traffic came from there in October with Google in second place and Facebook coming in third. This is great because I’ve been working diligently on increasing my following + traffic from Pinterest and it is really paying off.
After rebranding not too long ago, my email list shrunk when I removed cold subscribers. So my email list is much smaller now but I’m definitely okay with that! I only gained a handful of email subscribers in October. This is something I need to work on and I’ve definitely been doing that! I just discovered Meera Kothand’s blog all about building your email list and I’m binge-reading all her posts. She is amazing.

Three of these posts were also the most popular in August and September so they are definitely coming out strong! Hoping to see more traffic from these posts for the months ahead.
Collective Bias Sponsored Posts: $150
Google AdSense: $0 (Google Adsense has a $100 threshold you have to reach before you’re paid out. I did inch more towards the $100 but will count this income when it is actually paid.)
My blog is mainly earning income through sponsored posts right now. I am honestly struggling with affiliate marketing and earning a passive income big time! This is something I am really hoping to work harder on.
Siteground: $0 (this is prepaid annually)
Learn to start your very own blog! Siteground is currently having a 70% off sale with plans starting at just $2.95 a month!
Net Profit: $245
So I made a profit of $245 in October. Again, that might be chump change for some bloggers, but this is awesome for me! Although it is not an increase from what I earned in the last couple of months, I’m still happy about it because I’ve been staying steady in the $200 range. I earned this after having my blog up for 9 months so it did take me a while to see any type of income. It’s not a race or a competition, so I don’t care about doubling or tripling my income in X amount of days. I am happy I am making anything at this point. It’s hard work and income and traffic do not come overnight. Especially when you’re still taking your time to learn the ropes.
I want to be extremely transparent in this income report: I’m seeing super slow growth. There’s been steady improvement in both my earnings and my traffic. This blog is not growing at lightning speed, but it’s getting there. My goal for November is to work on diversifying my income with the release of freelance services. This is something I’ve been really interested in and I can’t wait to give more information about this new venture on the blog very soon. I’ve also been working on other online side hustles that come directly from my blog. I hope to change this blog income report to an online income report in the coming months to show the true potential of earning money online!
One this that was really cool was that I was able to increase my monthly views on Pinterest from 10k to 22k. I just signed up for an account with BoardBooster and have been using it a lot. I’ve been playing around with the amount of pins per month and will be messing around more between 500 and 1000 monthly pins and decide which is best for my traffic!
If you’re already on BoardBooster, I recommending reading my latest post about their new tribes: Everything You Need To Know About The New BoardBooster Tribes
Unfortunately, I did not reach my goal of posting 8 blog posts in October. I only posted 5, but I am hoping to post at least 7 in the month of November, so we’ll see how that goes! I think November is going to be a good month and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for my blog in 2018.
See you in the next income report!
