I recently learned about Nubian Heritage when I received their famous African Black Soap in an Influenster Voxbox not too long ago. I was seriously impressed and hooked on the brand. So I was shocked and excited when I received a generous package filled with Nubian Heritage goodies from their African Black Soap collection.
I couldn’t wait to try out all these products!
Who is Nubian Heritage?
Nubian Heritage started out about 20 years ago on the streets of Harlem. The founders’ goals were to bring the healing traditions of African Black Soap and Shea Butter to their community. They wanted to produce luxurious products from traditional African recipes using organic and fair trade ingredients. Their products are inspired by global ancient healing philosophies. Their products sustainably produced and are made with absolutely no animal testing so they’re completely cruelty free.
What is African Black Soap?
Nubian Heritage’s African Black Soap Collection combines the benefits of African Black Soap with the ultra-moisturizing properties of Shea Butter to help balance your skin. This type of soap is made with Palm Ash, Tamarind Extract, and Plantain Peel. For centuries in Africa, Black Soap has been known to aid in reducing skin imperfections and blemishes, as well as soothing symptoms associated minor skin irritations.
African Black Soap Moisturizer
First up is the African Black Soap Moisturizer. This moisturizer is super lightweight and is meant to be anti-acne and clarifying. The product is made with Aloe Vera, oats, and Vitamin E because these ingredients work together to keep acne-prone skin hydrated and smooth. It is completely homeopathic and smells amazing!
I loved it. As you may already know, I suffer from dry skin and this moisturizer has been awesome at taming my skin and keeping it hydrated. The scent is very light and not too much. It keeps my skin feeling soft without looking shiny or oily.
African Black Soap Blemish Treatment Pads
Now these are awesome! I looooved these blemish treatment pads. I don’t use cleansing pads too often but I was very impressed by these. They clean your skin and even out your skin tone. These pads contain Aloe Vera, oats, and Vitamin E just like every other product in this collection! I love how this brand uses just three simple ingredients for their products so you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin.
You use these pads after cleansing your face so that you can tone your skin. You can use these or a toner after cleansing! It’s perfect for using once a day and can improve the overall look of your skin.
African Black Soap Facial Wash & Scrub
Next up is the Facial Wash & Scrub! This cleanser exfoliates your skin gently and helps to remove bacteria, excess oil and impurities. It helps clear your skin and unclog your pores without being overly drying. Scrubs are pretty amazing and this one is no exception. It has the same African Black Soap scent that I love and it’s great for cleansing your skin if you prefer scrubs over other soaps and facial washes.
However, I prefer the actual facial cleansing bar from their line because it is a little more gentle on my skin.
African Black Soap Mud Mask
Ahhh, masks… my favorite. I LOVE mud masks. I prefer them over sheet masks because I feel like they get a better cleanse for your skin. This mud mask from Nubian Heritage is thick and goes on like a paste. You apply it on clean skin and then let it dry for about 10 minutes.
This mask removes dirt and congestion from your pores, removes excess oil, and makes your skin look much better and of course healthier! It is meant for acne-prone skin and does an amazing job of clarifying. At the end of the 10 minutes, you simply remove the mask with a damp face mask and cool water. This is one of my favorite products from the line and I can definitely see the difference it makes on my dry skin!
African Black Soap Targeted Exfoliant Spot Treatment
I was super surprised when I saw this in the package! I had no clue they even had a spot treatment product in their line. The packaging is so cool and unique. The tip is clear and is kind of like a pen which makes for easy application. There is no drying or burning sensation when applied and the treatment is completely clear.
It did not dry out my skin and definitely cleared up pesky pimples I had on my face.. even the most stubborn ones that I had for a while! Seriously, this product is a lifesaver for acne-prone skin and is something you definitely want to be keeping in your makeup bag for when those annoying pimples randomly pop up.
African Black Soap Toner
Toner! Toners are awesome and are a great way to follow up after removing your makeup and cleansing your skin. You’d be surprised at the makeup that comes off when you use toner — you’d think you already removed it all! But that’s not always the case in removing stubborn makeup.
This toner did the trick at making sure my face was completely clean. The toner did kind of have a scent of alcohol, but it wasn’t too overpowering. It was tolerable and something you can get past. It removed oils, but it did make my skin feel a little bit dry after using it. But that’s something I’ve experienced with most toners which is why I always follow up with a moisturizer! This is a pretty great product, however I wish the packaging was a little bit easier to use. The top is similar to that of what you would find on a lotion bottle.
African Black Soap Facial Cleansing Bar
Last but not least is their most famous product — African Black Soap! Which is my favorite of the entire collection. Yes, this soap will always be #1 in my heart. I use this on my face daily and I even love pairing it with my Clarisonic Mia 2! I lather the soap in my hands and apply it to my face, then cleanse using the Clarisonic. Amazingggg results with that process!
It’s also great for using for your body, not just your face. It’s super gentle and effective and perfect for dry skin. It has worked wonders on my skin. I have very sensitive skin and my skin has not reacted badly to any of these products. I highly recommend trying out Nubian Heritage’s line of African Black Soap if you suffer from acne, dry skin, sensitive skin or a combination of the three. You will not be disappointed!
